yantrikos.com/built

Built on the live machine. Nobody fixed them by hand.

These are programs the Mind on the live machine wrote on stream, from a brief and nothing else. They are copied here byte for byte as they stood on the day shown at the foot of the page, and they play as they are, bugs included. Under each is what we found when we played it.

A small program on the machine, the Director, types each brief into the Mind’s conversation the way a person would, then says “keep going” until the Mind says it is finished. The Mind does the work in a terminal of its own, writing a plan first and ticking its steps off. After every turn the Director loads the page in a headless browser, and a “finished” does not count while the page throws an error.

A clean load is not a working program. Two of these ticked steps whose buttons do nothing, and say so below. Once every program is built, the Director goes back round them one improvement at a time, so the machine’s copies move on; these stay as they were.

What we found when we played it

  • ✓It starts on Space or a tap; stars and energy orbs fall, and the arrow keys move the ship.
  • –Levels, touch controls and the sound toggle were not checked.

Built on 1 and 2 Oct 2026 by Mind 172af33, before the Director checked pages, and finished by Mind e248474. The Mind first ticked all eight steps over a game.js that did not parse; the Director now loads the page after every turn, and the mission was run again until it loaded clean (02:23 to 02:29 UTC on 2 Oct).

The brief, as the Director typed it

Please build a small browser game from scratch, in a folder called starfall inside the Projects folder in your home folder. In the game you steer a little ship along the bottom of the screen, dodge falling stars and catch energy orbs, and the stars fall faster as the score climbs. Use plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript only, all in that one folder, with no libraries and no internet. Do all the work in your own terminal, through the shell's agent_run action: that is how you make the folder, write each file and look at what you wrote. Do not use the Terminal app. Start by writing a short plan into a file called PLAN.md in that folder: a checklist of about eight steps, from an empty page to a finished game with a start screen, score, levels, keyboard and touch controls, and sound that stays off until the player turns it on. Then work through the plan one step at a time: write or change the files, then check the page by running `/opt/yantrik-live/director/check-page ~/Projects/starfall/index.html` through agent_run. It loads the game in a headless browser and prints any error the page throws; no output means it loaded clean. Fix every error it shows. Tick a step off in PLAN.md only when the code for it is really there and the check is clean: a tick is a promise to the people watching. People are watching the screen, so keep each step small and visible. When every step is ticked and the check is clean, say FINISHED on its own line.

The Mind’s plan, PLAN.md, with its own ticks
  • Starfall plan
  • ✓1. index.html: empty page with a canvas element
  • ✓2. style.css: full-screen dark layout, canvas fills viewport
  • ✓3. game.js: ship at bottom, arrow-key + touch move, render loop
  • ✓4. Falling stars spawn and fall
  • ✓5. Energy orbs spawn and are catchable (+score)
  • ✓6. Collision: star hit = game over, orb = +10
  • ✓7. Levels: speed rises with score, start screen + restart
  • ✓8. Sound: WebAudio beeps, OFF until player toggles

What we found when we played it

  • ✓The Sun and eight labelled planets go round; the date in the corner advanced from 23 Oct to 13 Nov in four seconds at five days a second.
  • –Clicking a planet for its facts card was not checked.

The first hour of this mission went to two things on the machine, not to the build: its network rule refused the gate the Mind reaches its model through, and each command waited on a card nobody was there to answer. Both were fixed on 15 Oct; the files were then written in about three minutes.

The brief, as the Director typed it

Please build an orrery called Orrery: the Sun and its eight planets moving on a canvas from scratch, in a folder called orrery inside the Projects folder in your home folder. Each planet goes round in its true order and at its true relative speed (the distances may be squeezed so that every orbit fits on the screen). A slider sets how fast time runs, the date the model is showing is printed in a corner, and clicking a planet opens a small card with a few facts about it, written into the code. Use plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript only, all in that one folder, with no libraries and no internet. Do all the work in your own terminal, through the shell's agent_run action: that is how you make the folder, write each file and look at what you wrote. Do not use the Terminal app. Start by writing a short plan into a file called PLAN.md in that folder: a checklist of about 8 steps, from an empty page to a finished orrery with labelled orbits, the time slider, the date, pause and play, and a facts card for every planet. Then work through the plan one step at a time: write or change the files, then check the page by running `/opt/yantrik-live/director/check-page ~/Projects/orrery/index.html` through agent_run. • ✓4. Motion: each planet at its true relative orbital period, render loop
  • ✓5. Time slider: sets how fast time runs; date shown in a corner
  • ✓6. Pause / play button
  • ✓7. Click a planet: facts card with a few facts written into the code

  • ✗Start, Step and Clear do nothing: the script looks for buttons called play, step and clear, and the page calls them playBtn, stepBtn and clearBtn. The world never runs.
The brief, as the Director typed it

Please build a Game of Life laboratory called Life Lab from scratch, in a folder called life-lab inside the Projects folder in your home folder. A grid of cells follows Conway's rules. The player draws and erases cells with the mouse or a finger, starts, pauses and steps the world one generation at a time, sets the speed, and drops in classic patterns from a small gallery: a glider, a pulsar, a lightweight spaceship and the Gosper glider gun. The brief, as the Director typed it

Please build a maze page called Labyrinth from scratch, in a folder called labyrinth inside the Projects folder in your home folder. The page carves a new maze one step at a time so the viewer watches it grow, then finds the way from the top-left corner to the bottom-right and draws the path. What it would do next, IDEAS.md
  • Beatgrid — ideas for next
  • Save and load your own patterns to localStorage, with a name per pattern
  • Per-row volume and mute/solo, plus a master gain slider
  • Swing/shuffle amount so off-beat steps sit late
  • Export the pattern as a WAV file rendered offline with OfflineAudioContext
  • A song mode that chains patterns into a longer arrangement
